I hate denim, but I love see through lace flares. And Free People. And skulls. And summer. Happy Friday everyone and ta-ta for a whole week. I am traveling to El Salvador for work and will be back with great photos to share soon.

It’s summer! Well not technically until next month, but it is supposed to be in the 70s all this week. And that means either loose maxis or white on white. If you live in LA I strongly encourage dinners outdoors at sunset and long walks on the beach.

Last night I went to the Venice Art Crawl for a TOMS Eyewear event with my favorite TOMS sunnies from there new Spring Collection and my favorite score from a recent Wildfox sample sale in tow. Easy, breezy and ready for summer. Make sure to check out TOMS Eyewear when you can! TOMS is currently aiming to sell 100,000 pairs by end of summer for the Summer of Sight initiative – so get on board and make a difference! Each pair helps save and restore sight for someone in need.

Went downtown this weekend with this lovely lady for a change of scenery. I love downtown LA and miss being there {I used to work downtown}, but rarely find myself wanting to make the drive to go back. I am turning over a new leaf though and plan to not be the West LA girl who never leaves West LA. May is not too late for a new year resolution is it?

{H&M sunnies but I love these and top, Urban Outfitters pants and shoes-similar here}

Sometimes I think the best part of living in Southern California is not having to wear pants most of the year. The ease of a maxi skirt (especially on a beach day) cannot be challenged in my mind. And if you switch up a flat sandal for a funky heel and a leather jacket you have an outfit ready for a night on the town.

Who wants to learn how to longboard…me! Har har. Super cheesy photo I know, but with 80 degree sunny skies filling my weekend its hard not to be cheesy. I took full advantage of the sun by trying my hand a long-boarding on Saturday. Much easier than a typical skateboard and a reason to cruise around on a beautiful day. At first it was a little difficult and I was glad to get to take breaks for swing sets and photo taking, but I cannot wait for round two. Hoping for more weekends like the for months to come. PS – also testing the waters of the floral bottoms trend. I know it isn’t the increasingly popular denim, but silk shorts are just so much more….silky.

{Marc by Marc Jacobs sunglasses, Zara tank, thrifted shorts-awesome ones here, Converse, Arbor skateboard}

Last night I went to see American Idiot {the musical} and it was amazing! Hung out in downtown LA for a little bit and remembered how much I love it. Perfect weather and big city-esque feel with all the lights and walking around {in my new Zara flats} made it a great night. The show is playing until the 22nd at the Ahmanson Theatre so if you have a chance you should definitely go see it. We got tickets from Goldstart but you can also find them on the American Idiot the Musical website {here}.

There was a debate that I may break my ankle trying to be like Michael Jackson. I totally did not, but ended up with the great photo above. Hope you all have a great weekend!

Just because I love fashion does not mean I want to always give up comfort for it. These are the most comfortable pants I have gotten recently and I cannot wait to wear them with everything! I wore a version of this outfit out last weekend in San Francisco to a comedy club, but it was raining and the pants ended up getting tucked into boots. These pants are so great though – I ended up just looking like a really cool genie. Happy Friday everyone!

I’m starting with the man in the mirror
I’m asking him to change his ways
and no message could be any clearer
if you wanna make the world a better place take a look at yourself,
and then make a change
When I blog, try on outfits, dance around…I listen to music and love love love Michael Jackson. This song came on as I started uploading photos and seemed fitting. I lately have been a bit of a downer {I blame reoccurring sickness}, but finally feel like I have the energy to change my attitude and get back to my old self {it could also be I just don’t like winter unless there is a snow covered mountain}. Either way I am embracing my extra cheesiness with song lyrics and photos with smiles for days….and more green for St. Patricks!
